Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 tofu drained, pressed, cubed, firm
  • 2 tablespoon tapioca flour (or arrowroot)
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce (or tamari)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

General Tso Sauce

  • ½ cup vegetable broth
  • 2 garlic minced, cloves
  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce (or tamari)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil toasted
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon tapioca flour (mix with 2 tablespoon water)
  • 2 tablespoon sesame seeds toasted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees. Then remove the tofu from the package and drain. Wrap the tofu in a clean kitchen towel (or paper towel) and let it rest for 10 minutes. Then dice into small 1-inch cubes.
  2. Meanwhile, in a small bowl add 2 tablespoon of soy sauce,1 tablespoon maple syrup, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, and 1 teaspoon garlic powder and mix (do not add the tapioca flour yet). Then add in your cubed tofu and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the tofu from the marinade and toss with the tapioca flour. Then place the tofu cubes into the air fryer in a single layer. Cook for 12 minutes flipping halfway.
  4. While the tofu cooks, prepare your General Tso sauce. Add all the ingredients (except the tapioca flour and sesame seeds) into a small bowl and mix. To a separate bowl add the tapioca flour and 2 tbsps of water and mix. Save for later.
  5. Then over medium heat in a medium sauce pan add in the General Tso sauce. Cook for 5 minutes or until the sauce starts to boil. Then add in the tapioca mixture.
  6. Cook until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
  7. Next, add in your tofu and mix gently. Turn off the heat and let it sit for 5 minutes to absorb the sauce. Remove from the heat and top with the toasted sesame seeds. Serve over rice with some green onions and enjoy :0)
