Air Fryer Mushrooms Steaks
Description
These Air Fryer Mushroom Steaks are made from large portobello mushrooms cleaned and stemmed, then coated with a marinade of olive oil, tamari soy sauce, garlic purée, and salt. The mushrooms can be marinated briefly for enhanced flavor before being placed in the air fryer at 350°F (180°C) for about 8-10 minutes.
Cooking in the air fryer gently softens the mushrooms while preserving their substantial texture, giving them a juicy interior and browned exterior with savory garlic and soy notes. The method is quick and allows for even cooking without excess oil.
The mushrooms pair well with fresh salad greens or other vegetables, making an easy vegan main or side dish. Variations in seasoning like smoked paprika or Cajun spices are possible, as is adding butter if not vegan.
For best results, remove mushrooms carefully with tongs to avoid breaking, and marinate longer if time allows for more flavor absorption. These steaks offer a meaty texture with simple, clean flavors.
