Air Fryer Pork Chops

Air Fryer Pork Chops are boneless chops coated with a seasoned blend of almond flour, Parmesan cheese, paprika, Italian seasoning, and Creole seasoning, then cooked in an air fryer for a crispy exterior and juicy interior. Sprayed with cooking spray for even browning, these chops cook quickly and offer a flavorful crust without deep frying. They can be paired with various sides, making them adaptable for different meals.

Description

This recipe for Air Fryer Pork Chops uses boneless chops about 0.5 lbs each, coated in a mixture of almond flour, Parmesan cheese, paprika, Italian herbs, and Creole seasoning for a flavorful crust. The chops are lightly sprayed with cooking spray before coating to help the crust adhere and crisp up during air frying. Cooking occurs at 180C (350F) for 8-12 minutes depending on thickness, with a recommended starting point of 8 minutes followed by checking doneness. Proper spacing in the air fryer basket allows even air circulation and crispness.

The cooking method yields pork chops with a crunchy, well-seasoned exterior that contrasts with tender, moist meat inside. Safe serving temperatures should be verified with a meat thermometer (63C/145F). This technique offers a way to enjoy breaded pork chops with reduced oil usage.

They pair well with vegetables such as air-fried asparagus or green beans, or starches like baked potatoes or applesauce, complementing the savory spice crust. Variation in seasoning proportions allows for customization to taste.

The recipe notes the seasoning mix quantity is enough for four pork chops, but all can be used on two for more intense flavor. The recipe also reminds that air fryer temperatures vary by model, so cooking times may need adjustment on first attempts.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 pork chops that are 0.5 lbs (240g) each, boneless
  • 1/3 cup almond flour or regular flour if not low carb
  • 3 tbsp Parmesan Cheese grated
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp creole seasoning or ground coriander, or Cajun seasoning
  • cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 180C / 350F.
  2. Mix together almond flour, Parmesan cheese, paprika, Herbes de Provence, Creole or other seasoning.
  3. Lightly spray both sides of the pork chops with a calorie-controlled cooking spray (or if not following a calorie-controlled diet, rub with olive oil).
  4. Cover both sides of the pork chops with the coating mix and place chops in the air fryer basket. Make sure the pork chops are not touching.
  5. Cooking can be anytime between 8-12 mins, depending on the thickness of pork chops. Mine took 9 mins. When cooking these the first time, I recommend starting with 8 mins and then checking for doneness.

Notes

  • When cooking pork chops in the air fryer for the first time, start with the lower end of the cooking time range and check for doneness before increasing time.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure pork reaches an internal temperature of 63C (145F) for safe consumption.
  • Arrange pork chops in the air fryer basket so they do not touch, allowing even air circulation and a crisp coating.
  • The seasoning mix provided can coat four pork chops, but using all on just two chops results in a more heavily seasoned crust.
  • Serve with air-fried vegetables or instant pot sides like applesauce or baked potatoes for a complete meal.
