Air Fryer Radishes
Description
This recipe air fries trimmed and quartered (or halved) radishes seasoned with garlic powder, sea salt, freshly cracked black pepper, and lemon zest for a crisp-tender texture that contrasts their natural bite. The radishes are tossed with a small amount of oil or lemon juice for an oil-free version before air frying at 380°F for 10 to 12 minutes, shaking the basket midway for even cooking. Air fryer time adjustments allow customizing from crisp-tender to soft results.
The seasoned radishes develop a mellow earthy flavor with a gentle crispness on the outside and tender interiors. Optional fresh parsley adds herbal freshness when served while a squeeze of lemon brightens their taste. These radishes can serve as a low-carb side or a light snack.
If an air fryer isn't available, oven roasting at 420°F for 15-20 minutes achieves similar results, turning radishes tender with roasted notes. Leftovers store well in the refrigerator and can be reheated in an air fryer or microwave.
Ingredients
- 12 ounces radish about 2 bunches, ends trimmed, quartered or halved if small
- 2 teaspoons oil Omit for oil-free, and use 1 tablespoon lemon juice, optional
- ⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
- rounded ¼ teaspoon salt fine sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper freshly cracked
- ½ teaspoon lemon zest optional
- 2 tablespoons parsley chopped, fresh, optional
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 380 degrees F (193 C). In a mixing bowl toss the radishes with the oil (or lemon juice for oil-free).
- Sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, pepper, and lemon zest, if using, and toss to coat.
- Transfer the radishes to the air fryer basket (if using lemon juice be sure to leave it in the bowl). Cook for 10 to 12 minutes, shaking the basket after 6 minutes. Air fryers can vary, so check the radishes after 8 or 9 minutes. For crisp-tender radishes reduce by a minute or two, or cook longer for soft, tender radishes.
- Serve hot with a squeeze of lemon, fresh parsley, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- If you don’t have an air fryer, roast the radishes in a 420°F oven for 15 to 20 minutes on parchment, flipping halfway for even browning.
- Roasted radishes are best eaten fresh but can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheated by microwave or air fryer.
