Instructions
- Begin by heating the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
- Trim the ends of the green beans and cut or snap them into 1 ½-2 inch pieces. Place them in a large saucepan.
- Add enough water. Make sure that it completely covers the beans. Then, bring it to a boil.
- Reduce the heat, cover the beans, and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
- Drain the beans and transfer them to a two-quart glass or oven-safe ceramic baking dish, like a 9" x 9" Pyrex dish.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the bacon and cook, turning it often, until it is brown on the edges. Transfer the cooked bacon to a baking rack or a paper towel-lined plate to cool.
- Once the bacon is cool to the touch, crumble it into pieces and sprinkle the bacon over the beans in the baking dish.
- Take a small bowl and mix the melted butter, brown sugar, soy sauce, and garlic powder together.
- Drizzle the mixture over the beans and bacon, coating them evenly.
- Bake uncovered for 20 minutes, then gently stir to ensure the sweet and savory sauce coats all the beans.
- Keep baking for an additional 15 minutes. Then, serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Storage Info:
- Arkansas Green Beans should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consumed within 3-4 days. For extended storage, pack them in a freezer bag, and expel the air to prevent freezer burn. For freezing, you can freeze it for up to 2-3 months. To reheat, place leftovers on a microwave-safe plate and microwave, or use an oven-safe dish, cover with foil, and reheat in a 350° F oven, or warm them in a pan on the stovetop, stirring until heated through.
