Baked Feta Recipe with Honey And Zaatar
Description
The recipe centers on baking a block of feta cheese, preferably one stored in brine for robust flavor, lightly dried before cooking. The cheese is placed in an oven-safe dish or small cast iron skillet, drizzled with olive oil, and baked at 375°F until softened. Following this, a topping of honey, zaatar spice blend, and oregano is added, then the dish is broiled briefly to toast the top and warm the honey into a glaze, creating a contrast between the gooey cheese and the sweet-herbal topping.
The interplay of salty feta, sweet honey, and the earthy, lemony zaatar creates a complex flavor profile. The cheese’s texture becomes creamy and spreadable, suitable for pairing with bread, pita chips, or crackers. The option to add more zaatar on top allows customization of the herbal intensity.
This baked feta can be served warm as a rich appetizer or snack that invites dipping. Its combination of flavors is suited to a casual gathering or as part of a meze platter.
Using a cast iron skillet enhances even heating, but any oven-safe dish works. Adjusting the quantity of honey and zaatar allows tuning the sweetness and herbiness to preference.

Notes
- Use a block of feta in brine for stronger flavor; pat it dry slightly before baking.
