Baked Salmon Burgers

Baked Salmon Burgers combine chopped fresh salmon with mustard, avocado oil, paprika, and sea salt, formed into patties then baked until cooked through with a tender and moist texture. The mild seasoning allows the salmon’s flavor to shine. These burgers offer a wholesome alternative to traditional beef patties and go well with fresh toppings and leafy buns.

Description

This recipe features freshly chopped salmon transformed into burger patties by mixing in stone ground mustard, avocado oil, smoked paprika, and sea salt. The salmon used is skinless and cut into chunks, then processed into a thick paste that holds together once shaped into patties.

The patties are baked at a high temperature on parchment-lined sheet trays, ensuring even cooking and a slightly firm exterior without frying. Flipping halfway through achieves uniform doneness. The seasoning is restrained and aromatic, highlighting the salmon’s natural flavors enhanced by mustard’s tang and paprika’s mild smoky warmth.

Once cooked, the salmon burgers can be served with a variety of toppings. Suggested accompaniments include butter lettuce buns, heirloom tomato slices, mustard, red onion, and mashed avocado, creating a fresh and balanced bite with varied texture and flavor. This makes an appealing main dish for a lunch or casual dinner.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 pound salmon skin removed and chopped into cubes
  • 1 Tbsp mustard stone ground
  • 1 Tbsp avocado oil
  • 1 tsp paprika ground
  • 1/2 tsp salt sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Remove the skin from the salmon. Take a sharp knife and run it between the skin and the flesh to carefully cut off the skin. Chop the salmon into chunks and transfer it to a food processor.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients for the burgers and process until a thick paste forms. Form 3 (⅓-pound) patties out of the salmon mixture and place on the baking sheet. Bake 15 to 20 minutes, flipping after 10 minutes.
  4. Serve with your favorite toppings. I like going with a butter leaf lettuce bun, heirloom tomato, mustard, red onion, and mashed avocado.
