Balsamic Tomato Salad

Balsamic Tomato Salad features halved cherry or grape tomatoes tossed with fresh basil and a simple dressing of balsamic vinegar, olive oil, salt, and pepper. This no-cook salad highlights the bright, juicy sweetness of tomatoes balanced by the acidity of balsamic and the herbaceous note of basil, serving as a refreshing accompaniment or light starter. It can be served immediately or chilled.

Description

The Balsamic Tomato Salad is created by halving small tomatoes such as cherry or grape varieties and mixing them with fresh chopped basil leaves. The dressing combines balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil, seasoned with salt and black pepper, and is whisked until combined. This dressing is poured over the tomato and basil mixture and tossed to coat evenly.

The salad is served at room temperature or can be chilled for a couple of hours before serving, allowing the flavors to meld. The combination provides a balance between the sweetness of the tomatoes, the tang of balsamic, and the freshness of basil, making it a light and zesty dish.

This salad works well as a side dish with grilled meats, sandwiches, or as part of a light meal on warm days. The straightforward preparation and fresh ingredients showcase the natural flavor of tomatoes enhanced by a simple vinaigrette.
