Beef Teriyaki
Description
Beef Teriyaki uses flank steak cut into chunks combined with sliced onion and teriyaki sauce inside a crock pot. Cooking on low heat for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours allows the beef to become tender and absorb the flavor of the sauce. The simplicity means the beef stays moist and infused with the soy-based, slightly sweet teriyaki sauce.
The final dish is commonly served warm over rice, absorbing the savory sauce and complemented by the softness of the onion. It’s a straightforward comfort meal emphasizing slow-cooked meat with minimal preparation.
For a thicker sauce, cornstarch mixed with water can be stirred in during the last hour of cooking to create a glaze-like finish. Different cuts of beef like round steak or stew meat can be used as alternatives without changing the method.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs flank steak (cut into 1 inch pieces)
- 1 onion (sliced)
- 1 cup teriyaki sauce
Instructions
- Place the beef in a 6 quart crock pot.
- Place sliced onions on top and pour the teriyaki sauce over the top of the beef.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
- Serve warm over rice and enjoy!
Notes
- You can substitute other cuts like diced round steak, beef roast, or stew meat for the flank steak.
- For a thicker sauce, mix 2 tablespoons cornstarch with 1/4 cup water and add to the crock pot during the last hour of cooking.
