Description
The recipe blends ground beef with richly flavored additions: egg for binding, Worcestershire sauce and mustard for tang and umami, butter for moisture, breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan for texture and subtle sharpness, and minced garlic for aroma. Optionally, onions can be included either chopped or fried. Mixing by hand preserves the meat’s texture. The formed patties can be shaped with a burger press for uniformity or by hand.
Cooking is done by grilling or smoking to the desired doneness, allowing the flavorful ingredients to meld with the beef. Topping with cheese and preferred burger additions finishes the preparation. This recipe provides a straightforward approach to making seasoned burgers from scratch without pre-made mixes.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown mustard
- 1 tablespoon butter chopped into small pieces, unsalted
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese *grated is best
- 4 cloves garlic *minced
- 2 tablespoon onion optional, fried or chopped; or fried onions

Instructions
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the beef, egg, worchestershire sauce, mustard, butter, bread crumbs, Parmesan, garlic, and onions (if using). *use your hands to combine as it maintains the texture better.
- If using a burger press (highly recommend), place meat into the press and form 4 burgers. If you aren't using a press, eye the amount and form into patties using your hands.
- Sprinkle desired seasoning on top of burgers evenly.
- Place on grill/smoker and cook to desired doneness.
- Add cheese and toppings and enjoy the best burger ever!!
