Best Frozen Paloma Cocktail Recipe
Description
This Frozen Paloma combines ruby red grapefruit juice and fresh lime juice for tart and tangy citrus notes, balanced by the sweetness of simple syrup. Silver tequila brings a clean agave flavor that blends seamlessly with the citrus, while ice blended creates a smooth, slushy texture that refreshes.
The preparation involves rimming glasses with salt or sugar for a contrasting touch, and garnishing with citrus wedges and fresh sprigs of rosemary or basil which add aromatic elements. This cocktail can be served individually or scaled up as a pitcher recipe for group serving.
Variations allow for omitting tequila to make a mocktail, swapping vodka for tequila, adjusting sweetness, or adding spice for a unique kick. Skipping the blender produces a traditional sparkling Paloma served over ice. The drink pairs well with light, spicy fare and is versatile enough to customize with different fruit juices or herbal accents.
Batch preparation and simple substitutions offer flexibility, while tips ensure the cocktail balances tartness and sweetness to suit personal taste.
Ingredients
- 12 ounces grapefruit juice fresh squeezed is best, or try 100% juice, ruby red variety
- 8 ounces tequila silver
- 4 ounces lime juice fresh squeezed is best
- 2 ounces simple syrup may also use honey or agave
- 3 cups ice
Garnish
- grapefruit wedge for garnish, or slice of lime
- rosemary or basil, sprig
- salt or sugar, rimming
- 1/2 lime cut into quarters
Instructions
- Pour some margarita salt or sugar onto a shallow plate. Run a lime wedge along the rim of your glasses and dip it into the margarita salt or sugar. Set aside.
- Add grapefruit juice, tequila, lime juice, simple syrup, and ice to a blender.
- Blend for about 30 seconds or until the mixture is smooth and there are no more ice chunks. Pour into the prepared glasses and garnish with a grapefruit slice. Enjoy!
Notes
- To omit alcohol, leave out tequila and increase grapefruit juice or use grapefruit mixer for a refreshing mocktail.
- Vodka can replace tequila; try grapefruit-infused vodka to enhance fruity notes.
- Doubling ingredients allows preparation of a frozen Paloma pitcher for 8 servings.
- Traditional Paloma can be made by mixing tequila, fresh juices, sparkling water, and sweetener; served over ice with rimmed glass.
- Adjust sweetness with honey or agave syrup as preferred.
- For a spicy twist, add hot sauce or rim glass with chili powder or Tajin.
- Use Mezcal instead of tequila for a smoky flavor variation.
- Add other fruit juices like blood orange or pomegranate for additional flavors.
- Include sparkling mixers such as club soda or grapefruit soda for bubbles.
