BLT Onigirazu おにぎらず

BLT Onigirazu is a Japanese-style rice sandwich featuring cooked rice layered with fried egg, crispy bacon, and fresh lettuce, all wrapped in toasted nori seaweed. The assembly involves spreading rice over lightly toasted seaweed, layering fillings, and folding the nori to enclose the ingredients, creating a portable and filling snack or meal option.

Description

The BLT Onigirazu recipe combines cooked rice with traditional sandwich components: bacon, fried egg, and lettuce, wrapped in nori sheets. The rice is spread evenly and thinly on toasted nori to provide a sticky base that holds the ingredients together. The bacon is cooked rindless for tenderness, and the eggs are pan-fried flat to fit neatly inside the sandwich. Wrapping the fillings with nori sheets and allowing them to settle before cutting helps the sandwich maintain its shape.

This preparation results in a textured contrast between soft rice, savory crispy bacon, tender egg, and fresh lettuce, wrapped in slightly toasted seaweed which adds an umami note. It makes an easy-to-eat meal convenient for lunch or picnics and can be customized by adjusting the fillings.

If you lack a mold or form, simply pile the ingredients on the seaweed and fold it carefully to enclose the fillings. The recipe assumes cooked rice without timing for cooking included.
