Blueberry Vodka Lemonade
Description
The Blueberry Vodka Lemonade recipe starts with preparing a simple syrup by simmering cane sugar, water, and blueberries until the berries break down into a rich syrup. This syrup is then combined with lemon-flavored vodka and lemonade, topped with lemon club soda for carbonation. The cocktail is poured over ice and garnished with fresh berries, lemon slices, and fresh herbs, enhancing the aroma and presentation. The drink is sweet but refreshing, with the blueberry syrup providing natural sweetness and a fresh berry flavor enhanced with citrus notes.
Simmering the syrup until the blueberries break down ensures a thick, intensely flavored base. The combination of lemonade and lemon club soda maintains a bright, citrusy quality that balances the sweetness. Serving the cocktail over ice keeps it chilled and refreshing.
This cocktail is well suited for warm weather gatherings or as a light, fruity alcoholic beverage. The method allows adjusting sweetness by varying the syrup amount per glass. Garnishes provide a fresh appearance and subtle herbal aroma.
The recipe notes suggest variations by switching berries for different simple syrups and offer a frozen version by using lemonade ice cubes blended with the other ingredients, presenting options to customize texture and flavor intensity.
Ingredients
For the simple syrup
- ¼ cup cane sugar
- ¼ cup water
- ⅔ cup blueberries fresh or frozen
For the cocktails
- 8 oz vodka 2 oz per drink, Deep Eddy Lemon flavored
- 16 oz club soda 4 oz per drink, lemon
- 20 oz lemonade 5 oz per drink, Minute Maid Zero Sugar
- blueberries for garnish, fresh; lemon slices
- lemon
- herbs
Instructions
- First, make the blueberry simple syrup. Heat a sauce pot to medium heat and add cane sugar, water, and fresh blueberries. Allow blueberries to break down, forming a beautiful berry sauce - it will take 7-10 minutes. Stir every few minutes to avoid blueberries from burning.
- Grab 4 serving glasses and add ice to each one.
- Add ¼ of the blueberry simple syrup (~2 tablespoons) into each glass on top of the ice. You can use less if you’d like your cocktail less sweet.
- Pour in vodka, lemonade, and top with Lemon club soda.
- Garnish with fresh berries, mint, and serve with a straw. This cocktail is going to rock your world.
Notes
- You can replace blueberries in the simple syrup with strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, or cherries to vary the flavor.
- For a frozen version, freeze lemonade in an ice cube tray and blend with the other ingredients for a slushy texture.
