Cabbage Salad Recipe
Description
The Cabbage Salad Recipe combines both green and red cabbage shredded finely to give a colorful base, with shredded carrot and chopped green onions adding sweetness and a mild sharpness. The dressing integrates apple cider vinegar for acidity, olive oil for smoothness, garlic for pungency, fresh oregano for herbaceous depth, lemon zest and juice for brightness, balanced by a touch of sugar and Dijon mustard to round out the flavors.
After tossing the salad with dressing, it is set aside for 20-30 minutes to soften the cabbage slightly while allowing the dressing to penetrate. This resting period also brings out juiciness without wilted texture. The salad is finished with fresh oregano sprigs and lemon wedges for garnish, adding fresh herbal and citrus notes.
This salad makes a refreshing side with grilled or roasted dishes, providing contrast with its crunch and acidity, and can be prepared ahead to develop flavor.
