Cheese-Mayo Baked Mussels (Mussels Dynamite)

Cheese-Mayo Baked Mussels, known as Mussels Dynamite, feature frozen green mussels topped with a creamy mixture of mayonnaise, Parmesan cheese, lime juice, chili sauce, and sugar, then baked until golden. The baked topping develops a rich, tangy, and mildly spicy crust that complements the tender mussel beneath. Topped with tobiko fish roe just before serving, they offer a contrasting pop of texture.

Description

This recipe begins by rinsing and drying frozen mussels in their half shells. A sauce composed of mayonnaise, grated Parmesan cheese, lime juice, Sriracha chili sauce, and sugar is mixed to a smooth consistency and spooned generously atop each mussel. Baking at 350°F (180°C) for about 20 minutes browns the cheese-mayo mix to a golden crust while heating the mussels through. Once out of the oven, a small amount of tobiko fish roe is added to each mussel, providing a subtle salty burst and delicate texture contrast.

The dish highlights the combination of creamy, tangy, and lightly spicy notes balanced with the natural umami of the mussels. These baked mussels serve well as finger food or appetizer, suitable for sharing and pairing with crisp white wines or light salads.
