Chick-Fil-A Inspired Crispy Chicken Sandwich

This Chick-Fil-A Inspired Crispy Chicken Sandwich is made by marinating thinly butterflied chicken breasts in dill pickle juice, then coating them in a seasoned flour mix with powdered sugar before frying in peanut oil. The result is a golden, crunchy exterior with juicy chicken inside. The sandwich is assembled with classic toppings such as lettuce, tomato, and pickle slices on hamburger buns, recreating the iconic fast-food sandwich experience at home.

Description

This recipe calls for butterflying chicken breasts into thin filets and scoring the surface for better coating adherence and even cooking. Marinating the chicken in dill pickle juice adds a subtle tang and helps tenderize the meat. After marinating, the chicken is dipped in an egg and milk mixture, then dredged in a flour blend seasoned with powdered sugar, paprika, and various spices, contributing to a sweet and savory crust. The chicken pieces are fried in peanut oil at about 350°F until golden brown and cooked through, producing a crispy texture.

The cooked chicken is placed inside toasted hamburger buns along with lettuce, tomato slices, and pickles. These toppings add freshness and crunch, balancing the rich fried chicken. The sandwich is a popular comfort food and can be paired with lemonade or other simple sides.

Using peanut oil for frying ensures a stable high-temperature cooking environment. Scoring the chicken helps the coating adhere well and creates a textured surface after frying. The marinating step of one hour is important to infuse flavor and keep the chicken moist during frying.

  • Score the butterflied chicken in a diamond pattern to help the seasoning and coating stick.
  • Use peanut oil for frying due to its high smoke point and neutral flavor.
  • Fry chicken pieces at around 350°F for 3-4 minutes per side to ensure a crispy crust and fully cooked interior.
  • Assemble sandwiches with fresh lettuce, tomato slices, and pickles for classic flavor balance.
