Chicken Flautas (Flautas de Pollo)
Description
Chicken Flautas (Flautas de Pollo) are made by combining cooked shredded chicken with a sauce blend of taco sauce, Alfredo sauce, shredded cheddar cheese, onion powder, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. The seasoned chicken filling is divided evenly and rolled into medium fajita-size tortillas, sealed tightly and placed seam-side down on a baking sheet. The flautas are lightly sprayed with nonstick cooking spray before baking at 425°F until the tortillas turn golden brown and crispy.
This method yields flautas with a crunchy exterior and a creamy, flavorful filling that balances savory and mildly spicy elements. The use of both taco sauce and Alfredo sauce adds moisture and richness to the chicken while the cheddar cheese contributes a melty texture and sharpness. The blend of spices provides depth without overwhelming heat.
Flautas are versatile and served warm with common Mexican-inspired toppings such as sour cream, guacamole, salsa, and fresh cilantro, which enhance the flavor and add freshness. Canned chicken or rotisserie chicken can be used as convenient alternatives to fresh cooked shredded chicken.
