Chicken Pakora
Description
This Chicken Pakora recipe calls for small chicken pieces coated with a marinade combining gram flour, garlic and ginger pastes, crushed chili, coriander powder, cumin powder, lemon juice, chili powder, turmeric, salt, and coriander leaves. Water is added gradually to form a thick batter that clings to the chicken. After marinating for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld, the chicken pieces are deep-fried until golden brown and cooked through.
The result is a crispy, spiced crust surrounding juicy chicken. The use of gram flour (besan) gives a distinctive texture and flavor compared to wheat flour batters. The combination of spices balances heat with fragrant notes from cumin and coriander.
Chicken Pakora is typically served with fresh yogurt chutney for cooling contrast. This recipe does not detail side dishes but this pairing is traditional. The pakoras are fried carefully in batches to avoid crowding, ensuring even cooking and crispiness.
