Chicken Stuffing Bake
Description
Chicken Stuffing Bake starts by seasoning diced chicken breast and placing it in a baking dish. A mixture of condensed chicken soup and milk is poured over the chicken, providing a creamy base. Dry stuffing mix is evenly distributed on top, then chicken broth is poured over to moisten the stuffing during baking.
The covered dish bakes until chicken is cooked through and the stuffing absorbs the broth, becoming tender but distinct in texture. Letting the dish rest before serving allows flavors to meld and juices to settle.
This casserole is convenient as a comforting, filling meal that combines protein and starch with minimal hands-on time. Using boxed stuffing mix and canned soup makes for quick preparation. Adjust seasoning as needed to taste.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds chicken breast boneless, skinless, diced in 1-inch pieces
- 2 cans (10.75 ounces, each) cream of chicken soup OR use my recipe below this card for my homemade cream of chicken soup, condensed
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 boxes (6 ounces each) stuffing mix Stove Top Chicken
- 1 ½ cups chicken broth
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray.
- Cut chicken breasts into one inch pieces. Lay out evenly in the bottom of prepared dish. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a medium bowl whisk together the condensed soups and milk. Pour mixture evenly over chicken. Sprinkle dry stuffing mix evenly over the top. Pour chicken broth over the stuffing mix- making sure to get as much of it covered as possible.
- Cover dish with foil and bake 40 to 45 minutes or until chicken is cooked through. Remove from oven and let stand 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
Notes
- This updated recipe increases the stuffing mix to two boxes for more coverage and texture contrast.
- Make sure the chicken is fully cooked before serving to ensure safety and tenderness.
- Cover the dish with foil while baking to keep moisture in, then you can uncover near the end if a crispier top is desired.
- Letting the bake rest after cooking improves flavor melding and makes serving easier.
