Chili for Beginners
Description
This chili recipe starts by browning ground beef with chopped onions, seasoning the meat during cooking for depth of flavor. After draining excess fat, the beef and onions combine with canned diced tomatoes, a choice of beans, tomato juice, and chili powder in a pot for simmering.
Simmering the mixture for about an hour allows the ingredients to meld, softening the beans and enriching the tomato base with spices and meat flavor. The chili powder amount is adjustable to suit personal spice preferences, including adding up to an extra tablespoon.
With simple ingredients and basic steps, this chili suits cooks beginning to explore chili recipes, delivering a filling, tomato-forward chili with a balanced texture of tender beans and crumbled beef. It serves well as a standalone meal or with sides like cornbread or rice.
