Chipotle Hummus

Chipotle Hummus blends traditional chickpeas with smoky chipotle peppers in adobo sauce to add a spicy, smoky twist to the creamy, rich base. Tahini, olive oil, and chickpea liquid contribute to a smooth texture, balanced with lemon juice and seasoning. The addition of toasted pine nuts and a drizzle of olive oil on top enhances texture and flavor, making this a flavorful dip or spread.

Description

This Chipotle Hummus recipe starts with a food processor blending chickpeas and chipotle peppers with a bit of olive oil. The mixture is refined to a smooth consistency by gradually adding olive oil and tahini paste. The reserved chickpea liquid, or alternatively water, is used to thin the hummus for a creamy texture without diluting flavor.

The smoky heat from the chipotle peppers introduces a distinctive depth contrasted against the smooth, nutty tahini and creamy chickpeas. Lemon juice and salt add brightness and balance, while white pepper brings subtle warmth. The topping of toasted pine nuts provides a contrasting crunch and richness, complemented by an optional olive oil drizzle for extra silkiness.

This hummus variant works well as a dip for vegetables, pita, or crackers, or as a spread in sandwiches and wraps. Its smoky undertones offer a pleasant alternative to traditional hummus.
