Cilantro-Jalapeño Hummus Recipe Without Tahini
Description
The recipe uses drained and skinned canned chickpeas as the base, which blend smoothly with the freshness of chopped cilantro and the sharpness of garlic and jalapeño. A combination of lemon and lime juice brings brightness, while the olive oil and water create a creamy, emulsified texture without tahini.
Blending all ingredients until very smooth yields a versatile spread. The balance of cool, zesty citrus and the subtle heat from jalapeño creates a flavorful dip or condiment. It can be spread on bread, used as a dip for vegetables, or added to wraps.
Ingredients
- 1 ounce chickpeas drained and skinned, canned
- 2 tablespoons cilantro roughly chopped
- 2 cloves garlic peeled
- 1 tablespoon jalapeño roughly chopped (about 1/2 a jalapeño)
- 1/2 tablespoon lemon juice fresh
- 1 tablespoon lime juice fresh
- salt pinch
- black pepper pinch
- 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon water
Instructions
- Place all ingredients, apart from the olive oil and water in a small food processor and blend until smooth.
- With the machine running, stream in the olive oil and water and continue processing until super creamy and smooth.
- Spread on everything!
