Cinnamon Raisin French Toast

Cinnamon Raisin French Toast uses slices of cinnamon raisin bread dipped in a mixture of eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt, then cooked in butter until golden brown. The cinnamon and vanilla infuse the bread, complementing its raisin sweetness. The crisp exterior contrasts with the soft inside, making this a warmly spiced breakfast or brunch option that can be topped with cinnamon sugar, maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh berries.

Description

This cinnamon raisin French toast involves soaking slices of raisin-studded bread in a spiced custard made with eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. The bread absorbs the custard, softening but holding its shape. Cooking on a buttered griddle until golden brown creates a gently crisp exterior with a tender center. The cinnamon raisin bread contributes sweetness and texture from the raisins.

The finished French toast can be garnished with cinnamon sugar to reinforce the warm spice flavor, as well as maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh berries for added sweetness and balance. It is a classic sweet breakfast or brunch dish offering a comforting, familiar flavor profile.

Keeping cooked slices warm in a low oven on a wire rack prevents sogginess and maintains texture if preparing for a crowd or serving in stages.
