Cinnamon Rolls and Apple Pie Filling

This dish layers canned apple pie filling in a casserole dish topped with cinnamon roll pieces and heavy cream, baked until the rolls brown and soak up the fruit juices. The cinnamon rolls cut into quarters distribute softness and sweetness over the spiced apple filling, enriched by the cream poured on top. The result is a warm, dessert casserole combining the simple convenience of canned ingredients with a baked custardy topping.

Description

The recipe starts with spreading canned apple pie filling evenly in a prepared casserole dish. Canned cinnamon rolls are cut into quarters and sprinkled over the apples, creating a textured layer that will bake soft yet slightly golden. Heavy cream poured over the top adds moisture and richness to the casserole.

Baking at a moderate temperature for 40 to 45 minutes cooks the cinnamon roll pieces through and allows the cream to meld with the apple pie filling below. Covering with foil partway through prevents excessive browning. The dish is finished with a drizzle of the included cinnamon roll icing for added sweetness and flavor.

Served warm, this casserole combines familiar flavors of apple pie and cinnamon rolls in an easy one-dish dessert. It is suitable for a large group or batch serving as it divides into 12 portions.
