Cornbread Dressing

Cornbread Dressing blends cubed cornbread with sautéed celery and onion, mixed into a savory combination of chicken broth, milk, herbs, and eggs, then baked to a golden, moist casserole. The herb seasoning with sage and thyme adds depth, resulting in a tender, flavorful side dish often served during holiday meals.

Description

Cornbread Dressing starts with sautéing celery and finely chopped yellow onion in butter until translucent, imparting a softened vegetable base. This is combined with cubed cornbread soaked in a mixture of chicken broth, whole milk, eggs, rubbed sage, dried thyme, kosher salt, and coarse black pepper.

The combination is gently mixed to coat the cornbread cubes with the flavorful liquids and vegetables, then transferred to a greased baking dish. Baking at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 40-45 minutes produces a warm, golden-brown crust with a moist and tender interior.

This dressing serves as a classic side accompaniment, commonly featured in Thanksgiving or other holiday meals, complementing roasted meats and seasonal vegetables. The herb blend provides a fragrant and savory profile that enhances the subtly sweet corn flavor.
