Crack Chicken Sliders
Description
These Crack Chicken Sliders feature cooked chicken combined with cream cheese, chicken broth, ranch seasoning, crispy bacon, shaved green onions, and cheddar cheese. The mixture is spread onto split Hawaiian rolls before being topped with extra cheddar and the tops of the buns. A garlic butter mixture brushed on the tops is sprinkled with Parmesan cheese and chives for added flavor and a golden crust during baking.
Baking at a moderate temperature melts the cheese and crisps the tops slightly, while keeping the chicken filling moist and creamy. The sliders balance smoky bacon, tangy ranch seasoning, and creamy cheese in a soft, slightly sweet bun.
They are ideal for gatherings and casual meals. Cook chicken ahead of time or use rotisserie chicken for convenience; cooking the chicken and bacon together in the oven can save time.
Ingredients
- 6 lices Bacon
- 8 ounces cream cheese cut into small pieces
- ¼ cup chicken broth
- 1 ounce Ranch dressing mix (1 packet)
- 2 cups chicken chopped or shredded, cooked
- 1 ½ cups cheddar cheese shredded
- ¼ cup green onion thinly sliced
- 12 hawaiian rolls
- 2 tablespoons butter melted
- ½ teaspoon garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon Parmesan Cheese grated
- 1 tablespoon chives thinly sliced
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Lay bacon on a baking sheet lined with foil. Bake for 15-20 minutes until crispy. Remove from oven and let cool before chopping. (see note)
- Turn oven to 350 degrees F and place a large pot over medium heat.
- Add cream cheese, chicken broth, and ranch mix to the pot. Cook until cream cheese is melted and mixture is smooth, whisking often.
- Add bacon, chicken, 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, and green onions to cream cheese mixture. Stir to mix.
- Cut rolls in half so you have tops and bottoms. Place bottom half of rolls on a baking sheet.
- Spread chicken mixture over roll bottoms. Sprinkle with the remaining 1 cup cheddar over the filling. Top with the top half of the buns.
- Melt butter & stir in garlic. Brush over buns. Sprinkle Parmesan and chives over buns.
- Bake sliders for 8-10 mins until cheese is melty and tops are golden. Remove from oven. Cool slightly and then cut into 12 sliders before serving.
Notes
- The chicken can be pre-cooked, use rotisserie chicken (skin removed), or bake boneless skinless breasts alongside bacon at 425°F for 18-20 minutes.
- Cutting the cream cheese into small pieces helps it melt smoothly into the sauce.
