Cranberry Ambrosia Salad
Description
The recipe for Cranberry Ambrosia Salad starts by whipping heavy cream until soft peaks form, then adding powdered sugar and whipping to stiff peaks. Fresh cranberries, drained pineapple chunks, sweetened coconut flakes, and miniature marshmallows are then gently folded into the whipped cream. The mixture should be served right away to maintain the light, airy texture and fresh flavors of the fruit and marshmallows.
The salad offers a contrast of flavors and textures: the creamy whipped base complements the tartness of cranberries and the sweetness of marshmallows and pineapple. Coconut flakes add a slight chewiness and a tropical note. While the recipe suggests an alternative of using Cool Whip instead of cream and sugar, this version focuses on the dairy whipped cream for richness.
This dessert or fruit salad is a refreshing dish for gatherings or holidays where a creamy yet fruity option is desired. It provides a balance of tangy and sweet elements with a cool, fluffy texture from the fresh whipping.
