Cranberry Brie Phyllo Cups
Description
The recipe uses pre-made phyllo dough shells baked briefly with cubes of Brie cheese inside until melted and warm. Removing the rind from the Brie helps achieve a smooth, creamy texture that fills each cup nicely. Topping the warm cheese with cranberry sauce adds a fruity tartness that contrasts with the rich cheese and crisp shell.
The baking process crisps the phyllo shells without drying out the Brie, maintaining a soft, velvety center. Warming the cranberry sauce before adding it lets it meld gently with the cheese for an appealing flavor combination. The recipe calls for small, uniform phyllo shells to ensure consistent baking and individual servings.
These phyllo cups are served best fresh from the oven, allowing the Brie to be gooey and the pastry crisp. They can be served as an elegant appetizer or snack. Garnishes like fresh parsley, rosemary, or mint can brighten appearance and add subtle herb notes. Substitutions such as Havarti cheese or raspberry preserves accommodate preferences or availability.
