Cranberry Sauce with Apricots, Raisins, and Orange
Description
This cranberry sauce combines fresh cranberries, chopped apricots, and golden raisins cooked in water and orange juice with orange peel and sugar. The mixture is brought to a boil until the cranberries burst, releasing their juices, which creates a thick, fruity sauce. The orange peel infuses subtle citrus aroma and flavor throughout.
The final sauce is sweet and tart with chewy bits of dried fruit providing texture contrast to the softened cranberries. The orange juice brightens the profile and offsets some of the berry's tartness. This preparation can be made a few days in advance and kept chilled to allow flavors to meld.
This sauce complements roasted meats like turkey, ham, or chicken, often appearing on holiday tables as a traditional condiment. It can also be used as a topping for desserts or mixed into yogurt or oatmeal for added flavor.
