Creamy Coleslaw

Creamy Coleslaw combines shredded cabbage and carrots with a dressing made from mayonnaise, sour cream, grated onion, sugar, dry mustard, vinegar, salt, and pepper. The mixture is tossed until coated and chilled before serving, resulting in a cool, tangy, and creamy salad with a subtle bite from mustard and fresh onion.

Description

This coleslaw features a blend of mayonnaise and sour cream to provide a rich and creamy dressing base. Grated yellow onion adds mild sharpness and texture. Seasoning with sugar and dry mustard balances the tartness and adds depth. White vinegar adds a gentle acidity, while salt and pepper enhance the overall flavor. The coleslaw mix usually contains shredded cabbage and carrots, giving the salad color and crunch.

The ingredients are combined in a large bowl and mixed until evenly coated. It is recommended to chill the coleslaw between 30 to 60 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld and soften slightly. This dish works well as a side for barbecues, sandwiches, or picnic fare.

Leftovers should be stored covered in the refrigerator and consume within five days. Expect the texture to soften further over time.
