Creamy Harissa Dressing
Description
This dressing starts by whisking together tahini, lemon juice, and maple syrup to form a smooth base with rich, nutty, and sweet elements. Fresh grated or minced garlic is added for pungency, while harissa—a North African dried chili blend—introduces heat and aromatic spices. Water is incorporated to thin the mixture to the preferred pourable consistency.
The resulting dressing has a creamy texture that complements salads, roasted vegetables, or grilled dishes. Seasoning with fine sea salt rounds out the flavors, and adjusting the amount of harissa or sweetness allows personalization to taste.
Stored refrigerated, the harissa dressing maintains its flavor and texture for up to four days, making it convenient for preparing meals in advance.
Ingredients
- ¼ cup tahini
- ¼ cup lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or agave
- 1 medium clove garlic grated or minced
- 3 to 4 teaspoons harissa dried blend
- 2 to 3 Tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon salt fine sea salt
Instructions
- Combine the tahini, lemon juice, and maple syrup in a bowl, and whisk until smooth.
- Add the garlic, 3 teaspoons harissa seasoning, 1 tablespoon water, and salt, and whisk again. For a thinner consistency add another tablespoon or two of water.
