Crockpot Sweet Potato Casserole

The Crockpot Sweet Potato Casserole cooks peeled, diced sweet potatoes slowly with melted butter, brown sugar, vanilla, and warm spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves. Topped with toasted pecans and miniature marshmallows, it offers a soft, spiced base with a combination of crunchy and gooey topping, making it a classic comforting side often served at holiday meals.

Description

This casserole begins by blending melted unsalted butter with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ground ginger, cloves, and vanilla extract to create a spiced sweet mixture. The peeled and diced sweet potatoes are stirred into this mixture and slow cooked in a crockpot until very tender, allowing the flavors to meld and the potatoes to become soft and creamy.

Once cooked, the dish is topped with miniature marshmallows and toasted pecan halves. Covered and cooked further, the marshmallows melt into a light, sweet layer, while the pecans add a toasted crunch balancing the softness of the sweet potatoes. The resulting texture combines creamy, melted, and crunchy elements.

This casserole is typically served warm and is suitable as a sweet complement to savory main dishes during festive occasions or family dinners. Cooking times may be adjusted based on crockpot heat settings and desired softness.
