Croissant French Toast Bake
Description
This French toast bake starts by cutting croissants into cubes that soak up a custard made of eggs, milk or evaporated milk, packed brown sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon. The soaking step ensures the croissant pieces become tender and infused with the custard's sweet, spiced flavor.
After soaking, the mixture is poured into a greased baking dish and baked at 350°F for 40-45 minutes until the top turns golden brown and the center is set. The baking process gently cooks the custard while crisping the outer croissant edges slightly, creating a pleasing contrast between crispness and softness.
This dish can be served warm as a standalone breakfast or brunch option. It provides a balance of buttery croissant richness and sweet, warmly spiced custard, with the cinnamon and vanilla lending aromatic notes.
