Double Chocolate Waffles Recipe
Description
These waffles use a combination of cocoa powder and chocolate chips to provide deep chocolate flavor. The dry ingredients including flour, cocoa, baking powder, soda, and salt are combined with wet ingredients such as buttermilk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and light brown sugar. Egg yolks are whisked into the wet mixture, while egg whites are whipped separately to soft peaks and folded carefully into the batter to keep it airy.
The batter is poured onto a preheated waffle iron, cooking until the waffles develop a crispy exterior and retain a tender crumb inside. The chocolate chips add bursts of melted chocolate within the waffle.
These waffles can be topped with fresh berries, a dusting of confectioners' sugar, chocolate sauce, vanilla ice cream, or whipped cream for extra indulgence. They work well for breakfast or a dessert treat.
