Deep-fried beer batter fish is a favorite dish with just about everyone. The fish is delicate and flaky and the batter is golden brown and crispy. If you enjoy a fish & chips meal from time to time, try this recipe for homemade beer batter.

- 4 White fish filets
For the Beer Batter
- 1 cup beer
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Flouring Mixture
- 1/2 cup flour
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch

Instructions
- Combine the batter ingredients and mix until a smooth batter forms. There should be no lumps in the batter. Set it aside for 30 minutes.
- When you’re ready to fry the fish, add 2-3 inches of oil to a heavy saucepan and heat until it reaches 375°F, or preheat a deep fryer. Line a large plate or platter with paper towels and set it aside.
- Combine the flouring ingredients in a small bowl and mix well.
- Dredge two fish filets in the flour mixture and tap lightly to remove the excess flour.
- Dip the floured fish filets into the batter ensuring that they’re covered with a thick coating of batter.
- Gently place the filets into the heated oil.
- Cook for about 4 minutes per side or until medium golden brown.
- Remove and drain the fish on the prepared paper towels. Repeat with the remaining filets and serve.
