Easy breakfast board

This Easy Breakfast Board offers a variety of morning staples including boiled eggs cooked to preferred doneness, oven-crisped streaky bacon, croissants, waffles, fresh strawberries, jam, yogurt, and maple syrup. It presents a balanced array of protein, carbs, fruit, and condiments ideal for leisurely mornings or shared brunches.

Description

The breakfast board centers on precisely timed soft to hard boiled eggs, peeled and halved after cooling in an ice bath to halt cooking and ease peeling. Oven-baked streaky bacon provides crispy, flavorful strips without stovetop mess. Croissants and waffles add flaky and fluffy textures, complemented by fresh strawberries and sweet jam for brightness and spread options. Creamy yogurt and maple syrup round out the flavors and textures.

This style of breakfast encourages varied tastes and can be served with hot coffee and fresh orange juice, making it suitable for cozy weekend mornings or gatherings. The components are easy to prepare in parallel and assembled for a visually appealing and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Servings

Boiled eggs

  • 4 egg

Crispy oven bacon

  • 250 g streaky bacon (approximately 10 strips)

For the breakfast board

  • croissants
  • Waffles
  • strawberries
  • jam of your choice
  • yogurt
  • maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 200ºC/400ºF and place the bacon on a non-stick baking tray.
  2. Place in the hot oven and allow to cook for 10-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the bacon is cooked to your preference.
  3. In the meantime, place the eggs in a pot and fill with water.
  4. Place over high heat on the stove and once the water comes up to a boil, start your timer. I cooked these eggs for 6 minutes as I wanted them to be set throughout but have creamy yolks. 4-5 minutes = soft, 5-6 minutes = jammy yolks, 6-7 minutes = hard boiled.
  5. Remove the eggs from the boiling water and place in an ice bath to immediately cool them down before peeling them.
  6. Place the halved boiled eggs, crispy bacon and other breakfast ingredients on a large serving board/platter and serve with hot coffee and fresh pressed orange juice.
