Add to Shopping List

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, on high heat cook sugar and butter with water until sugar is dissolved and syrup boils. Reduce heat and simmer.
  2. While simmering, make a slurry in a small separate bowl mix together two tablespoons of the syrup and cornstarch. Add to the syrup and simmer until the mixture thickens.
  3. Remove from heat and add maple extract and toasted pecan.

Notes

  • You can toast the pecans on a skillet on the stove top or you can toast them in the oven at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes. Just make sure to keep an eye on them so they don't burn! Using a parchment-lined baking sheet makes clean-up easy.
  • Sugar-free alternative sweeteners may crystalize after several hours. Simply re-warm the syrup to get the consistency to pourable again.
