Easy Pull-Apart Garlic Rolls

Easy Pull-Apart Garlic Rolls are soft dinner rolls sliced in a crosshatch pattern and filled with a buttery mixture of garlic, salt, and parsley. Parmesan cheese is sprinkled into the cuts before baking, resulting in warm, pull-apart rolls featuring garlicky butter and a cheesy topping. The rolls are baked covered and then uncovered to brown the tops, creating a tender, flavorful bread ideal for sharing.

Description

This recipe transforms regular dinner rolls into flavorful pull-apart treats. The rolls are scored with angled cuts about an inch apart, leaving the bottom intact, allowing the garlic butter and parmesan to seep into the bread during baking. The garlic butter mixture combines melted unsalted butter, minced garlic, salt, and fresh parsley, which enhances the savory flavor and aroma.

Baked first covered with foil, the rolls steam slightly and retain softness. Then baking uncovered develops a lightly browned top and melted parmesan cheese that adds texture and a hint of sharpness. The bread is soft inside with moist, flavorful pockets between the slices, encouraging tearing into individual pieces.

These rolls are suitable for serving alongside meals as a garlic bread substitute or as a snack or appetizer. The pull-apart style encourages sharing and easy portioning without utensils.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 12 dinner rolls homemade or store-bought
  • ½ cup butter melted, unsalted
  • 3 garlic minced, cloves
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon parsley fresh, minced
  • ½ cup Parmesan Cheese grated

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 9x13-inch baking pan with a large piece of aluminum foil so that there is at six inches of overhang on both sides.
  2. Cut a cross-hatch pattern into the tops of the dinner rolls, about 1-inch apart, stopping about ½-inch from the bottom of the roll so that you do not cut the entire way through. Place the rolls into the prepared pan (it's okay if you have to smush them in there!)
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, garlic, salt and parsley. Pry open the slits and drizzle some of the melted butter mixture in between, trying to divide it evenly between all of the rolls; then, sprinkle the Parmesan cheese into all of the slits.
  4. Pull the foil overhangs up and seal it closed. Bake for 15 minutes, then open the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes, until the tops of the rolls are lightly browned and the Parmesan cheese has melted. Serve immediately.
