Easy Tiramisu (Eggless)
Description
This eggless tiramisu recipe uses ladyfinger biscuits dipped briefly in cooled coffee mixed with coffee liqueur like Kahlúa, though alcohol is optional. The creamy filling mixes mascarpone cheese with sugar and vanilla, then folded gently with whipped cream to create a light but rich texture. Ladyfingers and cream layers alternate in a dish or individual serving cups, then chill for several hours to let the flavors meld and the dessert firm up. Dusting the top with cocoa powder and adding optional chocolate pieces adds bitterness and texture contrast.
The layered structure delivers an inviting combination of soft, coffee-flavored biscuits and smooth, mildly sweet cream. The absence of eggs makes it approachable for those avoiding raw eggs yet maintaining traditional tiramisu character. The coffee liqueur enhances but can be left out for a non-alcoholic version, offering flexibility in flavor intensity.
Serving chilled, this tiramisu suits after-dinner treats or special occasions where a luscious yet lighter dessert is wanted. Individual portions are possible by using smaller ramekins and halving biscuits during dipping.
Ingredients
Biscuits
- 1 cup coffee cooled or at room temperature, strong brewed
- 3 tbsps Kahlúa (or coffee liquer of choice, optional)
- 24-30 lady finger biscuits (Savoiardi)
Creamy Filling
- 2 cups mascarpone cheese
- 2 ½ cups Whipped Cream (chilled)
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Topping
- ¼ cup cocoa powder for dusting
- chocolate (shaved or chopped, for topping, optional)
Instructions
- Mix together the cooled brewed coffee and Kahlua (if using) in a deep bowl.
- In a bowl, using a hand mixer or whisk, whip the mascarpone cheese until light and fluffy. Add in the sugar and vanilla and mix until combined. Add in the whipped cream and mix until combined.
- Dip the lady finger biscuits into the coffee mixture one at a time. Laying them into your baking dish (9’x13”) to make the first layer. For individual servings break the biscuits in half before dipping into coffee mixture and use ramekins instead of a baking dish.
- Add a layer of the cream mixture, another layer of the biscuits and a final layer of the cream mixture.
- Refrigerate until set, 4-6 hours.
- Sprinkle with cocoa powder to finish. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- This recipe allows for omission of alcohol to make an eggless, alcohol-free tiramisu.
- To add flavor, variations can include dark rum, brandy, bourbon, or Marsala wine instead of coffee liqueur.
