English Muffin French Toast

This English muffin French toast is quick, easy, and loaded with classic French toast flavor. It's the perfect breakfast!

Ingredients

  • 6 English muffins sliced in half
  • 4 large eggs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

For Greasing

  • vegetable oil
  • butter
  • cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Begin heating a large skillet over low-medium heat. Add a tablespoon or two of both butter and vegetable oil ideally or cooking spray.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, beat eggs, milk, sugar, and cinnamon together.
  3. Dredge each half of the English muffins in the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 5 to 10 seconds.
  4. Allow excess egg mixture to drip off and place dredged pieces in your heated, greased skillet.
  5. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown.

Notes

  • Preheat your skillet before adding oil and butter to prevent butter burning and pancake sticking.
  • Wipe out the pan after every batch and use fresh oil and butter to avoid butter burning and burnt black bits sticking to your french toast.
  • If pan isn't hot enough the egg will immediately spread around your muffin. If the right temperature the egg will cook on your muffin immediately.
  • Cook your french toast over medium to medium low heat to ensure that it cooks through without burning. The sugar in your egg can burn quickly on the outside and the inside won't cook properly at all if temperature is too high. If you cook it on too low a temperature, the bread will be dry.
  • Cook three to four minutes per side over medium to medium low heat for best results.
  • Don't add too much dairy or milk replacement as it will prevent your egg from cooking resulting in soggy, uncooked bread.
  • Be careful how much sugar you add to egg mixture because if adding syrup, or powdered sugar to cooked french toast you don't want your result to be too sweet.
  • To avoid egg white showing up on your french toast make sure your egg mixture is well blended before you dredge your english muffins.
  • Allow about five seconds for your english muffins to soak up some egg mixture before adding to your pan.
