Fattoush

Fattoush is a refreshing Middle Eastern salad combining crisp baked Lebanese flatbread pieces with fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, yellow bell pepper, onion, and a mix of herbs like mint, continental parsley, and coriander. The salad is seasoned with sea salt, cracked black pepper, and zesty lemon juice, creating a vibrant, crunchy dish that highlights fresh, bright flavors and a variety of textures.

Description

Fattoush features baked Lebanese flatbread broken into bite-sized pieces tossed with diced cucumber, tomatoes, yellow bell pepper, purple onion, and several fresh herbs including mint, continental parsley, and coriander. The flatbread is toasted beforehand in the oven until crisp, adding a satisfying crunch to the salad. The fresh vegetables provide juiciness and a balance of mild sweetness and sharpness.

The salad is seasoned simply with sea salt flakes, freshly cracked black pepper, and lemon juice to add brightness and acidity. These ingredients accentuate the herbaceous notes and fresh vegetable flavors. Olive oil is typically added to help coat everything and enrich the taste, although it was not specified. The combination results in a light, textured salad featuring crispy pieces alongside fresh, crisp vegetables and verdant herbs.

Fattoush can serve as a side dish or light meal, excellent in warm weather or as a refreshing complement to heavier dishes.
