French Onion Dip

French Onion Dip combines caramelized onions with cream cheese and sour cream for a creamy, savory dip flavored with Worcestershire sauce and a blend of onion and garlic powders. The long, slow cooking of onions brings out their natural sweetness and deep golden color, creating rich flavor and texture. This dip is well suited for pairing with potato chips, crostini, or fresh vegetables as a party or snack item.

Description

The recipe starts by slowly caramelizing small chopped onions with butter, salt, and sugar over medium-low heat, developing a deep golden-brown color and sweet, rich flavor. After cooling, these onions are mixed with softened cream cheese, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, and spices including onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. The mixture forms a smooth, creamy dip with a balanced blend of sweet onion and tangy, savory creaminess.

French Onion Dip is commonly chilled before serving to meld flavors and improve texture. It pairs well with various crunchy snacks such as potato chips or toasted bread slices, or used as a vegetable dip for a flavorful appetizer.
