Fried Mushrooms

Fried Mushrooms offer a crispy coating with a tender mushroom center, achieved by trimming small button mushrooms and coating them first in flour, then a beer-based seasoned batter. The frying process at high heat ensures a golden brown finish, complemented by a fresh parsley garnish. This batter-fried mushroom recipe provides a savory snack or side that combines light crunch and earthy mushroom flavor, suitable for immediate serving while hot and crisp.

Description

Fried Mushrooms uses small button mushrooms trimmed to size, first coated lightly in flour to help the beer batter adhere evenly. The batter is made from flour, beer, and seasonings including kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mushrooms are dipped in this batter and deep-fried in oil heated to 375°F until golden brown, which takes about 7 minutes per batch. The frying process produces a crisp, golden crust encasing the soft mushrooms within. A sprinkle of fresh parsley adds a herbal note and bright visual contrast.

The mushrooms should be served immediately to maintain their crispiness and flavor. This recipe is well-suited as an appetizer or a side dish that highlights the balance of a crunchy exterior with the mushroom's tender texture inside. The beer in the batter contributes subtle depth and lightness to the coating.
