Frozen Fruit Smoothie
Description
The smoothie starts by blending frozen berries with a strawberry-flavored dairy-free yogurt and cashew milk, adding more milk as needed to reach the desired consistency. Using frozen berries provides chill and thickness without needing ice. The strawberry yogurt adds natural sweetness and a creaminess that complements the tartness from the berries. Cashew milk contributes a smooth base without overpowering the fruit flavors.
Serving this smoothie immediately ensures the best texture and freshness. Extra portions can be frozen in popsicle molds or in freezer-safe containers for up to a month. Before serving leftovers from the freezer, thaw at room temperature for about an hour for best texture.
Fresh berries can replace frozen if preferred, but adding ice will be necessary to keep the cold texture.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces mixed berries frozen, 1 heaping cup
- 6 ounces strawberry dairy-free yogurt or your favorite, brand Silk
- 1 cup cashew milk or your favorite milk, unsweetened, brand Silk
Instructions
- Add the fruit, yogurt, and about 1/2 cup milk to the canister of a blender or food processor. Blend on high power and drizzle in remaining milk, as needed, until desired smoothie texture and consistency is achieved. Serve immediately.
- Extra portion will keep in a freezer-safe (plastic) glass for up to 1 month in the freezer. Allow to thaw at room temp for about 1 hour before serving. Alternatively, freeze extra portion in popsicle molds.
Notes
- Fresh berries can be used instead of frozen, but you'll need to add ice to achieve a cold smoothie.
- Extra smoothie can be frozen in popsicle molds or freezer-safe containers for up to one month.
- Allow frozen smoothie portions to thaw at room temperature about one hour before serving to soften.
