Gingerbread Latte
Description
The Gingerbread Latte is built around a gingerbread syrup made by dissolving sugars, molasses, and spices such as ground ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg with vanilla and a pinch of salt. This syrup infuses the latte with the characteristic sweet-spicy notes of gingerbread. Heated and combined with shots of espresso, it is finished with frothed milk and a dollop of whipped cream, lending a creamy texture and balanced bitterness from the coffee.
Garnishes like freshly grated nutmeg and small gingerbread cookies or marshmallows add both aroma and visual appeal, enhancing the festive feel of the beverage. The latte can be prepared using any preferred milk, with oat milk as one suggested option for frothing. This seasonal drink suits chilly days and holiday gatherings.
The gingerbread syrup can be doubled and frozen to prepare lattes on demand, and gifting the syrup in a decorated bottle with espresso beans makes a thoughtful homemade present for coffee lovers.

Gingerbread Syrup:
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg freshly ground
- 3 tablespoons molasses
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract pure
- 3/4 cup water
- Pinch kosher salt

- 1/4 cup heavy cream whipped into medium peaks
- nutmeg freshly grated
- gingerbread cookies as garnish, or marshmallows
Instructions
To Make the Gingerbread Syrup:
- In a medium saucepan, set over medium heat, combine the sugars, molasses, vanilla, ginger, cinnamon and salt. Warm until everything has dissolved and there are no lumps of spices, about 3 to 4 minutes. I find a whisk really helps make this super smooth.
To Make the Gingerbread Latte:
- Pour the gingerbread syrup into a cup. Warm it up if it’s straight from the fridge. Pour in the 4 shots of espresso, and top with the frothed milk. whipped cream, freshly grated nutmeg and a little gingerbread cookie or marshmallow for garnish.
Notes
- Make a double batch of gingerbread syrup and freeze half for easy future use; thaw overnight in the fridge.
- Gingerbread syrup makes a thoughtful holiday gift when paired with espresso beans and decorated with a ribbon.
