Grasshopper Drink
Description
This Grasshopper Drink starts by optionally rimming a chilled martini glass with white crème de cacao or chocolate syrup, then dipping it into chocolate shavings or cocoa powder to add a textured, chocolate-flavored edge. The cocktail itself consists of equal parts green crème de menthe, white crème de cacao, and half and half (or heavy cream), shaken vigorously over ice to chill and combine them.
The resulting cocktail has a minty and chocolate flavor with a creamy mouthfeel balanced by the sweetness of the liqueurs and the richness of the dairy. Pouring into the prepared glass allows each sip to have a hint of chocolate along the rim. A garnish of chocolate shavings or fresh mint enhances its presentation and aroma.
The recipe yields one 2¼-ounce serving, suitable as a dessert drink or after-dinner cocktail. Using heavy cream offers a richer texture, while half and half provides a lighter creamy consistency. Ingredients like crème de cacao and crème de menthe are sweet, flavored liqueurs, with the former being chocolate-flavored and the latter minty but not creamy despite the name.

To rim the glass:
- chocolate or cocoa powder, optional (see note 1, shavings
- white creme de cacao or chocolate syrup
To make the cocktail:

- 3/4 ounce Creme de Menthe see note 3, green
- 3/4 ounce half and half or heavy cream (see note 4)

Notes
- Use white crème de cacao for a clear color and chocolate flavor.
- Crème de menthe adds mint flavor without creaminess despite its name.
- Choose half and half or heavy cream for creaminess; heavy cream results in a richer drink.
- This recipe makes one 2¼-ounce cocktail, suitable as a dessert or after-dinner drink.
