Guinness Irish Chili Recipe

Guinness Irish Chili combines lean ground beef, aromatic vegetables, and a blend of chili and warm spices simmered in crushed tomatoes and Guinness stout. The cooking process produces a rich, thick chili with complex depth from the stout and cinnamon. It’s finished with red kidney beans and served with optional toppings like sour cream, cheddar, and green onion.

Description

The Guinness Irish Chili Recipe starts by sautéing onions until they brown slightly, followed by celery, bell peppers, and garlic to build the flavor base. Ground lean beef is browned before introducing a fragrant mix of chili powder, paprika, cumin, coriander, oregano, salt, pepper, and cinnamon, which provides warmth and subtle sweetness. Crushed tomatoes and Guinness stout are added for moisture and distinctive richness, simmering uncovered to thicken for 30 minutes. Red kidney beans are then stirred in to complete the hearty chili.

The resulting chili has a deep and savory profile with the stout adding maltiness and complexity. Cinnamon offers a gentle background note that complements the chili spices without overshadowing them. The texture is thick but spoonable, with tender chunks of beef and beans throughout.

This chili pairs well with sour cream, grated cheddar, and chopped green onions as toppings, adding creaminess and sharpness. It’s versatile for winter dinners or casual gatherings.

The recipe advises flexibility in Guinness volume if can sizes vary, noting the dish tolerates small adjustments without impacting the final flavor or texture.
