Ham and Cheese Sliders
Description
This recipe prepares Ham and Cheese Sliders by slicing Hawaiian dinner rolls and sandwiching thinly sliced deli ham and Swiss cheese between the halves. A rich butter sauce, seasoned with Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, minced garlic, and dried onion, is brushed on both the bottom and top parts of the rolls. As the sliders bake at 350°F, the butter sauce infuses the bread and melts the cheese, resulting in soft, flavorful sliders with a tangy and savory profile.
The sliders can be served warm, making them suitable for casual meals, parties, or snacks. The combination of sweet rolls and savory filling balances well, and the poppy seeds add a slight texture and visual appeal.
Leftover sliders can be stored in an airtight container and reheated, with air frying suggested to restore a fresh texture. The recipe yields 12 sliders, making portion control straightforward.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter melted
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 teaspoons poppy seeds
- 1/2 tablespoon onion dried minced
- 1/2 tablespoon garlic minced
- 12 Hawaiian dinner roll
- 1/2 pound deli ham cooked, thinly sliced
- 6 lices swiss cheese thinly sliced
Instructions
- Prepare. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet or 9x13" baking dish with aluminum foil. Spray very lightly with cooking spray.
- Make the butter sauce. In a small bowl, mix together butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, dried onion and minced garlic. 1/2 cup melted butter, 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 1/2 teaspoons poppy seeds, 1/2 tablespoon dried minced onion, 1/2 tablespoon minced garlic
- Assemble the sliders. Use a large serrated knife to slice the rolls in half, separating the tops from the bottoms. Place the bottom of the rolls onto the prepared baking pan. Use a pastry brush to brush a few tablespoons of the butter mixture onto the bottom half of the rolls. Layer about half the ham onto the rolls. Arrange the slices of Swiss cheese over the ham, and top with remaining ham slices. Place the top half of the rolls onto the sandwiches. Brush the top of the rolls with the remaining butter. 12 Hawaiian dinner rolls, 1/2 pound thinly sliced cooked deli ham, 6 slices thinly sliced Swiss cheese
- Bake. Bake in the preheated oven until the rolls are lightly golden brown and the cheese has melted, about 20 minutes.
- Serve. Slice into individual rolls through the ham and cheese layers to serve. Serve warm.
Notes
- Store leftover sliders in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
- Reheating in an air fryer helps refresh the texture and melts the cheese evenly.
- The recipe makes 12 sliders, with one slider as one serving for consistent portioning.
- Use a serrated knife to slice the rolls cleanly without crushing them.
