Healthy Strawberry Chia Jam
Description
The Healthy Strawberry Chia Jam is made by cooking roughly chopped strawberries with a bit of water and fresh lemon juice until the fruit softens and breaks down. This cooking step intensifies the strawberry flavor and extracts natural pectin. After mashing, honey is stirred in for sweetness and chia seeds are added to thicken the mixture as it simmers gently.
The chia seeds absorb liquid, creating a gel-like consistency that firms up further after cooling, resulting in a spreadable texture without artificial thickeners. The jam retains a vibrant strawberry flavor accented by lemon's brightness and the natural sweetness of honey or agave syrup.
Once cooled, transfer the jam to an airtight container and refrigerate. It can be enjoyed on bread, swirled into yogurt, or used in baking. The recipe yields a fresh, homemade jam with a wholesome approach to natural thickening.
The jam can be stored in the refrigerator for about a week, making it practical for regular use without preservatives or additives.
