Herbed Parmesan Crisps
Description
This simple recipe creates crisps by mixing finely shredded Parmesan cheese with freshly chopped rosemary and thyme and freshly ground black pepper. Spoonfuls of the mixture baked at 400°F on parchment or silicone mats melt and then crisp into thin, golden rounds.
The crisps develop a firm, crunchy texture with a deep umami taste from the aged Parmesan, balanced by aromatic herbal undertones. They can serve as an appetizer, snack, or garnish for soups and salads, adding a flavorful, crunchy contrast.
Monitoring the crisps after 5 minutes of baking is important to prevent burning. They cool and harden quickly once out of the oven, ready to be enjoyed immediately or stored for later use.
Ingredients
- 2 cups Parmesan Cheese , finely shredded
- 1 tablespoon rosemary finely chopped, fresh
- 1 tablespoon thyme fresh leaves
- ½ teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a large sheet pan with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
- Add all of the ingredients to a medium-sized bowl and toss to combine. Scoop little mounds (a heaping tablespoon-full) of the cheese onto the sheet pan, spacing an inch or two in between. Place in the oven to bake for about 5-8 minutes, or until the crisps are nicely golden brown (keep an eye on them after the 5-minute mark, making sure they don’t burn). Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
